Re-editing the agenda with NewsTrust

For the past week students in my Web journalism class have been immersing themselves in NewsTrust, a social- networking site that bills itself as "Your guide to good journalism." Last Wednesday Rory O'Connor, NewsTrust's editorial director, led us in a presentation and workshop, highlights of which you can see in the embedded video below. Since then, we've been posti… Continue

The plight of the wired student journalist

Lauren Dillard, a student at Oregon State University, has written a thought-provoking response to my post on the multimedia journalist. She writes: "When I worked at The McMinnville News-Register over the summer, I was frowned at when I mentioned that I could also shoot photos. I took some fabulous photos that ran… Continue

Inspired to be wired

I just posted an item on Wired Journalists at my main blog, Media Nation. I've also created a Northeastern University group on Wired Journalists that my students in Reinventing the News will be joining this afternoon. Good stuff -- this is all very exciting.

Hey Dan,

Remember the Kindle thing a while ago? Here's your chance to return fire. Please check out my new blog post on this site.

As an educator and more of a vet than I am, I'd appreciate your feedback.

Have a great weekend.

Welcome!

And a hearty welcome to all your students.

I hope at least a few of them stick around and browse the groups and member list to find a mentor/expert/rockstar to pin down with some practical questions.

You'll certainly hear a Wired Journalists plug in my Reinventing the News class. I'm probably going to do that the next time we meet, as well as add it to our class Web site.

Hi Dan, glad you joined the community! Should we expect to hear a Wired Journalists plug on Beat the Press?

Hi Dan,
One of your students recently mentioned me on her blog. And I was thrilled to find out that blogging was required in your course!
