Flickr what? Buzznet huh?

Is there someone at a newspaper website using regular-folk driven photo sites to help coverage of his/her community? It's festival season coming up, and I'd love to figure how how to showcase the best of Flickr shot in my town, but I can't figure our where to start. Yes, my paper is on Flickr, but that's as far as I have gotten.

That's a first

Only successes

I'm both an optimist and impatient, so the whining about how it all sucks and newspapers are gonna die isn't sitting with me. So I'm only going to share successes. Today, my reporter came back from an event with an astounding video. Is there such a thing as newspaper style on the web?

If you're over 35, you may have been taught headline writing styles that are unique to newspapers.

I get that headlines have to be webby, but is there a stylebook out there for us?

If I have a quote in a headline, am I still using single quotes? Or is that a question that dates back to hot type?

Hi Kat! Your name was the source of much confusion at lunch one day last week with a few GateHouse folks. Something like...

"Oh yeah, you should talk to Kat Powers about that."

"Catpower?"

"No, Kat Powers."

"Catpower works at GateHouse?"

"Who's Kat Powers?"

"She's this singer, that's not her real name."

Etc...
