Multimedia and me

The N&R has just posted two multimedia presentations that I had a hand in, and I would welcome feedback on them.

Unfortunately, they don't have permalinks. To get to them, go to our home page, scroll down the center column (under the "Latest Headlines" box) and look for the box tagged "Multimedia." Within that box, scroll down to:

Building a community

Quality audio on the cheap

I'm pondering buying an audio recorder of my own since the paper doesn't have nearly enough to go around. Cost is a significant issue. Can anyone recommend something that's cheap but provides quality audio? If it matters, we do most of our audio editing in Audacity.
