I've been a staff reporter at The Boston Globe since 2001. I work in one of the Globe's suburban bureaus, and write stories for the paper every week.
I started shooting and editing video in 2005, after I purchased a JVC hard disk camcorder and a cheap ($89) program called Cyberlink PowerDirector.
I still use that camera, and bring it with me on most assignments. The hardest thing for me has been finding enough time to actually sit down and edit the footage. The Globe now has top-notch video editing software and HD cameras, which I'd love to use more often, but I work in a satellite office, and all the video editing stuff is downtown in the main newsroom. So I've just continued to use my little JVC camcorder and edit my videos at home.
My goal for 2008: I'm hoping to get in the main newsroom more often so I can can use the company's HD cameras and gear, and make some high-quality videos that are better than the ones I've made so far.
